Why do you like singing?
I have always loved singing since I was a kid. My parents sent me for ballet and piano lessons when I was five. Then one day I decided that singing was what I would do. Singing is my passion, my release and my way of reaching out to people. Singing is my life.
What album are you listening to right now?
A CD of 15 songs that my best friend complied for me. I call it my ‘inspirational CD’.
What is your favourite song?
You’re My Inspiration by Chicago. Every time I hear the song, I cry. It’s touching and so romantic. Maybe it’s because I lack romance in my life...
Which album would your friends be surprised you own?
Tupac Shakur — he’s gangsta rap and I hardly look like the type!
What type of movies do you like?
Action.
Tell us one thing about you that people are always surprised to learn about.
That I do social work.
Describe your bedroom.
Platform bed, pink and peach tones, mini sofa and lots of my stuff.
Describe your first date.
I was 18, we went to watch a movie and because this guy was exceptionally boring. I went home right after the movie.
Tell us one experience with your boyfriend you’d never forget.
My third ex-boyfriend was a closet gay!
What is your fondest childhood memory?
My grandma used to hold my hand and walk me to school everyday while nagging me the whole time. I miss her.
What are the 5 things you want to do before reaching 30?
To perform on stage, let the world know the story of my life so others can learn from my mistakes, bring my music to the masses, write a column for a magazine and be a deejay!
What makes you nervous?
Scrutiny. I used to be a fat kid and had real low self esteem.
If you could change one stereotype people had of you, what would it be?
That I’m too soft-hearted!
If you can be anyone in the world, who would you choose to be? Why?
Bill Clinton. At least I’m honest.
If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 things you would bring with you?
A compass, chocolate and a knife.
If you could choose what remains in your memory, what are the things you would rid of first?
Ironically, I would get rid of the things that make me proud so I can continue to work hard and achieve even more.
Tell us why you deserve to be the next Singapore Idol.
I have the determination, the drive and the discipline and also the talent :)
Tell us about a lucky charm that has been with you throughout the competition.
My Buddha pendant. Where I go, he goes.
Who is your favourite judge, and why?
Jacintha because she has been giving me bad comments from the very beginning and I truly thank her for this. If not, I wouldn’t be pushing myself and working doubly hard!
Who is your idol?
Nana (Nur Hasanah) from the first season.
