When did you first start to sing?
I first started singing when I was 10. I was watching MTV, Jessica Simpson was on TV, and my sister said I could sing. That was the start of my passion for singing.

Why do you like singing?
I love singing because I can truly be myself and express whatever’s on my mind and in my heart. I believe I have been given a talent in singing and I want to put it into good use and develop it.

When was the first time you performed?
I first performed when I was 13 years old. I sang for a wedding ceremony.

What album are you listening to right now?
I’m actually listening to a few albums right now. Christina Aguilera’s Stripped. Boa’s Atlantis Princess, the Coyote Ugly soundtrack, Britney’s Me Against the Music.

What is your favourite song? Why?
Stacie Orrico’s There’s Gotta be More to Life. It has a fabulous tune. The lyrics are very meaningful, it speaks about not just doing what you have to do in life but to pursue what you love. There’s gotta be more to life than chasing a degree! That’s why I took part in Singapore Idol!

If you were to describe yourself with one song, what would it be, and why?
Gloria Estefan’s Higher! I love to challenge myself and keep climbing up! I also love to inspire others around me to work hard!

What is your favourite television program?
I love American Idol!

What is your favourite food?
I love dim sum and sushi!

What is the dish that would best describe your personality, and why?
Potato lor... (As Jacintha put it) the potato is yellowish on the inside-cheerful character and it can be made into many different things — just like my personality goes according to my mood. I can be crazy at times and super lame on other days.

What are the things you’ve got in your bag?
My creams (moisturizer, anti-itch cream), my lip balm, my handphone and wallet and my Creative Zen!

Optimistic, determined, God-fearing.

Tell us one thing about you that people are always surprised to learn about.
I love to exercise. Because I love to stay at home most of the time, people assume that I don’t go under the sun. Plus I don’t have the body of someone who works out all the time, haha.

I’m single and available. If you can get through my dad... haha

What is your fondest recent memory?
Wow, I had a great time queuing at Cineleisure and making great friends in the midst of the competition.

What is your worst recent memory?
It was being called a potato sack by Dick Lee and said to have a character of a potato by Jacintha! :(

What animal best describes you?
I think a horse best describes me. A horse is disciplined and has a strong character.

How would you like to celebrate your next birthday?
I would love to invite all my friends to a party at the beach. Just mingle around and have fun.

If you were stranded on an island, what are the 3 things you would bring with you?
I would bring my Bible, my pouch with my creams and my tweezers (super useful!)

What do you think you have that makes you stand out from the other finalists?
I have a different voice, am the shortest contestant there and I believe in spurring others on even though they are my competitors!

What are some things you have learnt from this competition?
I have learnt that you need to be very determined and fight on against all odds in order to have what you want. You need to be independent too. No one else can help you if you do not help yourself. Also, have fun in the midst of all the work!
