his life story in detail. In fact, we were shocked to find all of seven comprehensive blog posts (he aptly termed them ‘chapters’) turning up on his blog on the very first night that all the Idols got access to their official blogs. Now that’s dedication for you.

Joakim really wants to connect to the fans — or maybe all that furious blogging is great cathartic therapy for unwinding during the competition. We’re impressed — he’s not just good for prancing, but a thinker who’s constantly reflecting on life as it happens.

jasmine Tye

Has
a lot of smileys and emoticons as Jasmine beams out loud about her cool experience in the competition so far. Still, Jasmine lovers might be starved to find just two blog entries over the past week.

What her blog says
Proof that Jasmine is really bubbly is all here. Her ramblings on getting high from coke (the carbonated soft drink) show a quirky side of Jasmine that we seldom see. Otherwise so girl-next-door, you’d think your teenage neighbour wrote it.

I wanted to aim the presents to this bunch of students but I actually threw it into some girl's face instead!!! I seriously used all my might to throw the bag! She didn't expect it at all oh no!!!!! I"M SO SO SORRY BABE! No wonder I was never in the basketball team wahahaha! :)

Norman Then

Has
a lot of self-afflicted jibbing and sniggering as he notes the finer details of why he supports Italy in the World Cup and how he conspired to send in votes for himself on our ‘Which Idol's blog can you NOT stop reading?’ web poll. Norman, we’re glad you mentioned us, but all the same, tsk.

What his blog says
that he’s a bit of a loose cannon. He shoots his mouth off at anything and everything with an anything-goes attitude. Come on, the guy even signs off with ‘Norman Le Grand’.

One fan read my blog and said...it has got to be like a give and take kinda thing. quite true. But then....then what’s the point of giving then? Like u’ll get the same in return. I dunno perhaps one day you’ll I more. Maybe God will give u more sweets in heaven.

Gayle Nerva

Has
everything you expect from a blog-fanatic, with totally random thoughts and loads of pictures in her photo album. As our colleague notes, she cannot stop talking about food, chocolate in particular. We hope we’re not busting our pants at the waist even if these are just virtual mentions.

What her blog says
That this youthful 17-year-old is super-friendly and loves typical girly things like getting dolled up. There’s a teeny-weeny hint of teen angst in one particular blog post where she recounts being left out from friends… but that’s all in the past.

jay Lim

Has
dutiful updates about the competition that show his sincerity to give it his all. Even has a deliberately-leaked floorplan of the Idols’ secret location for fans. Nice touch, but the picture’s blurry. And besides, they’ll need a map, not a floorplan. What a tease — do we sense a bit of a rebel here?

What his blog says
His thoughtfulness show how sincere he can be — particularly as he muses about cleaning up a dirty Idol bus despite the bus uncle’s objections. Plus, going by how happy he seemed to see his parents being interviewed for television, he’s also very much a mama’s and papa’s boy. Awww.

All these star treatments really doesn't change anyone(at least I still feel like the same old me), but it really makes you feel so pampered. Yah, ultra pampered, and sometimes I do speak to myself as in 'eeww, can you please do something for yourself??!"

Mathilda D’Silva

Has
nothing except one measly blog entry containing nearly two lines — the second line is cut off. A pity, because this brainy lass really does say some pretty interesting stuff. You can forget about getting anything PR out of her.

That this filmmaker wants her talent to speak for herself. At any rate we hope it’s not a sign that she’s been too sick to blog, cough cough — she was still down with the flu when we interviewed her last Wednesday.

Jonathan Leong

Has
his thoughts on anything on his mind, like how he doesn’t like the way he looks on television and his love for his dog Toto and Smoky, the cat he used to have. Hell, he’s even renamed his blog ‘Jon’s Journal of Thoughts’ for clarity. Fans would be all-too-pleased to step in.

What his blog says
If Jonathan blogs like he treats women, ladies out there would go gaga. Here’s a guy who tells you all his moves, where he’s been and what he’s up to. He scribbles away faithfully on his blog, as if the words ‘Dear Diary’ are constantly tugging at the back of his mind with a kite string. On the flipside, might make a great spy too.

Nurul Maideen

lists of random things you never knew about Nurul and should know, as well as raving updates about what the entire Idol bunch have been up to. Her blog doesn’t carry any ‘lame jokes’ from the joke aficionado though. Well, just one by a fan, who asked her what the biggest ant in the world was (Answer: a GI-ant).

She’s all sunshine and fun in her blog posts about being happy in general, accompanied by smiley greetings. Always ends her blog posts with “huggies pampers”.

Emilee Kang

her jotted-down notes on the crazy preparations for the competition, her roomies meeting fans at road shows, shout-outs of thanks to them, and ruminations about coping.

She may seem out-of-this-world with her stage confidence, but her admissions to having emotional crying moments, together with how she expresses wonder over soaking up the Idol journey like a sponge belies a quiet determination to really excel.

You see, I never used to wear heels before this competition so i'm still practising… my new heels were too loose and so they kept flying off and i had to do something about it before it hit someone (heehee wouldn't want to hurt anyone with my 'killer heels' right?)

Paul Twohill

Song lyrics peppered all over the place in between snippets of what sounds like Paul bantering with himself, with us spectators peeping over his back.

What his blog says
Hints at a sensitive soul, what with his selection of the song lyrics that presumably reflect his psyche. May be a little schizo as he swings from one extreme end thanking “Singaporeano people” to the other end telling himself to “SHUDUP PAUL”. At last count, there were 26 combined mentions of ‘Paul’ and ‘Paulie’ in his blog, all entered in by Paul.

Hady Mirza

lots of gratitude to his fans out there and a solemn promise to start blogging from now, even though blogging isn’t in his blood. We like his sincerity.

That this is one down-to-earth guy who’s so frank, he admits in a post that he “just can’t cry hard enough” when the other contestants started tearing from watching last Wednesday’s SI2 episode. For the life of us, we’re still wondering what the title of Hady’s blog TDFWAB means.

a lot of exclamations, rambling enthuses (any punctuation goes — except the full stop) and friendly chatter about having a blast with her fans, chomping on fresh Gala apples, pooping, missing her family and loving the Idol bunch.

That she’s really pretty cuddly beneath that rock persona on telly. Plus, she loves her mud facial as much as the next teenage girl. Yes, she rocks you on stage… but she’s normal! It’s safe to shake her hand at roadshows.
